A Message from Angie Spackman: God Never Fails!
Every Christmas for the past several years, the Beasley Allen law firm and Mr. Tom Methvin have sent a large financial gift to AIM. It comes in the form of stocks. Words are inadequate to say how grateful we are for their generosity, which has often—no, regularly—been our lifeline in times when donations are low, yet we still need to feed and care for typically about 90 children, plus staff, who are totally dependent on our support.
We usually try to leave this source of help untouched until the last few months of the following year. We have learned to do this because at the end of the year we face our leanest months and in those months we slowly withdraw a third of that donation every four weeks, until it is all gone. This way the Lord has sustained us and our AIM children annually and the miracle is nothing short of, well, miraculous!
This year has been different. Just like the rest of the community, the purse strings have been tight. As a result we have already had to draw on those funds throughout the year at critical moments.
Last month I was so struck by the unfathomable goodness of God! A call came in from Mr. Methvin’s office to say that an extra gift was being mailed that day. We were surprised and delighted. This had never happened before! Sure enough a much needed gift of just over $4,000.00 arrived in the mail and we thanked the Lord for His mercies and paid some urgent bills for our kids in Africa. As the poem says: He knows, He Loves, He cares, Nothing this truth can dim. He gives the very best to those, Who leave the choice with Him.
The story in Scripture about the Widow of Zarephath has blessed me so much lately, especially this verse: “The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by Elijah.” (1 Kings 17:16, ESV). Her obedience to God’s Word saved her life, and her son’s life as well!
Perhaps His plan is that our new thrift store (which opens next week as we write this) will begin to bring much needed funds. We are working hard to get it ready because there are a lot of lives to touch in Kenya, in Moldova and here at home. He has never failed us yet… He never will!
